Top 10 Wedding Trends of 2014

Congratulations you soon-to-be newlyweds! A new wedding season is upon us, which means it’s time to study up on the biggest and boldest trends of 2014. From colors and cakes to desserts and dresses, we’ve got you covered with inspiration for your magical day. With a mix of pop culture fashion, haute couture influence, and of course a bit of classic style, here are the Top 10 Wedding Trends of 2014! Guest post by Paige Fulfer

Ignite the Bright - Take a walk on the wild side by incorporating a glitzy, radiant orchid purple, Pantone’s Color of the Year. Still attached to pretty pastels? Soften up the vibrant vibe by pairing it with an ethereal lavender and a creamy neutral.

Tiny but Mighty - Create a dessert with a twist on a sweet tooth favorite. Keep it small and contained by concocting them in mason jars.

Sweetly Scalloped - You’ve seen scallops on shorts, skirts, tanks, tops, and and even socks. The time has come to invite the sweetheart trend to your big day! If you’re too shy to flaunt the design on your gown or wear it on a peep toe heel down the aisle, choose a scalloped dress for the rehearsal dinner. Tip: Remember, less is more!

Go Green - Leave the juicing at home, and instead, go organic with your centerpieces! Pure and fresh decor can’t be accomplished without true greens like soft vines and geranium leaves. Tip: Include crystals or silver accents sprinkled throughout the centerpieces in different patterns to keep each one slightly unique.

Mix and Match - Make sure your bridesmaids and groomsmen feel confident, comfortable, and classy in their wedding day attire. A general style of a dress or suit is often available in several different variations, allowing everyone to show off their unique style while creating a cohesive, aesthetic wedding party.

Textured Tiers -  It’s time to be a fancy pants and layer up with over-the-top cake designs. Ruffles, pleats, and ombre effects texturize a deliciously desirable traditional dessert. Tip: Order a smaller cake decorated to perfection that will feed a selected group of guests, then several sheet cakes that can feed the rest of the attendees.

Jeweled Necklines and Layers - Who says jewels aren’t part of the bridal gown rules? It is your time to shine, so do it bold and bright with bedazzled accents! Tip: Opt out of strapless… pretty cap sleeves add a soft, feminine look.

Black Tie Affair - Men, don’t forget classics are classics for a reason! You will look back on your wedding photos and be happy you wore a signature look that looks great on every man! Tip: Sauce up the sleek look with a slim fit and some quirky accessories like a pocket watch or tie-pin.

Embrace the Lace - Lovely lace is a classic staple for a wedding invite. Try a new take on it such as including an inner envelope made out of lace.

Light Up Your Love - Create a vintage but edgy feel with a marquee display of your last name, initials, or even simple sweet words like “love” or “happy.” The lights will keep the setting festive and bright as you dance the night away.
